Salkantay Trek To Machu Picchu - 4D/3N
The Salkantay Trek 4D/3N is a spectacular hiking route that connects the Andes to the cloud forest, ending at Machu Picchu. Over four days, travelers explore breathtaking landscapes, including Humantay Lake and the majestic Salkantay Mountain, before reaching Aguas Calientes. It’s a great alternative to the Inca Trail, perfect for adventure seekers looking for stunning scenery, diverse ecosystems, and an authentic, challenging experience in Peru.
Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake
Early morning departure from Cusco to Mollepata, then transfer to Soraypampa, the starting point of the trek. Hike through beautiful Andean scenery and, in the afternoon, visit Humantay Lake, known for its striking turquoise waters. Overnight at campsite in Soraypampa.
Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Chaullay
The most demanding day of the trek. Ascend to Salkantay Pass (4,650 m / 15,255 ft), the highest point of the route, near the impressive Nevado Salkantay. After enjoying panoramic views, descend into the cloud forest toward Chaullay. Overnight at campsite.
Day 3: Chaullay – Playa Sahuayaco – Aguas Calientes
Continue hiking through lush vegetation, rivers, and coffee plantations. Reach Hidroelectrica and walk along the railway to Aguas Calientes. Overnight at hotel.
